Spring is just around the corner.  It makes me think about new growth and sun and SPROUTS!  I just started some mung bean, alfalfa, fenugreek, lentil and amaranth seeds.

Sprouting seeds with your child is a science experiment, an exciting demonstration of life and nature, and YUM!  Involve your kids in the process.  Have them measure seeds and put into mason jars.  Soak the seeds overnight.  Rinse and drain the seeds daily.  And finally, make a delicious and nutritious meal.  HERE is a link to lids that we use to help make the process easier.  We have also pierced the lid of a canning jar, creating small holes to allow drainage/air flow.  It worked fairly well.  Note: Store the finished sprouts in the refrigerator.
