Fried Plantains

Plantains are a member of the banana family but in East Africa they are often served as a vegetable. Fried plantains are a tasty snack.

  • 3 large yellow plantains
  • 1/4 inch vegetable oil


  • Wash and peel the plantains. Cut into thin rounds.
  • Heat 1/4 vegetable oil in a skillet until hot. This can take 4-5 minutes.
  • Carefully add plantain slices and fry until golden brown on both sides-about 4-5 minutes.
  • Remove plantains with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain.
  • Cool and enjoy!
